Cyriac Barra, born in France in 1999, is currently enrolled as a student at the National Graduate School of Chemistry in Montpellier (ENSCM). His foray into research began in 2018 under the supervision of miss Marianne Poitoux (Arkema Jarrie) focusing on the optimization and development of analytical methods. In 2020, he worked under the guidance of Professor David Martin (CNRS, DCM, Grenoble) exploring the synthesis and characterization of stable antiaromatic pentalene derivatives, compounds typically considered too unstable to isolate. The following year, he has been involved in research under the supervision of Professor David Vireux and Dr. Tahar Ayad (CNRS, ICGM, Montpellier) specifically delving into the synthesis of atropochiral indolizines employed as catalysts in organic synthesis. In 2022, he collaborated with Dr. Camille Oger (CNRS, IBMM, Montpellier) focusing on the asymmetric synthesis of phytofurans derived from stearidonic acid.
He finally joined Prof. Ilan Marek’s group in September 2023 for at least a year, dedicating his efforts to the study of intramolecular carbometallation on cyclopropenes with a particular emphasis on spirocyclic compounds.
