Zack was born and raised in Pasadena, California. He received his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Cal State LA, where he conducted research with Prof. Matthias Selke. He then went on to complete his Ph.D. in the group of Prof. Brian Stoltz at Caltech, where he studied Pd-catalyzed allylic alkylation and the total synthesis of a marine alkaloid. In 2023, Zack joined the Marek group to develop ring expansions of highly substituted cyclopropanes.
