Sourav belongs to West Bengal, where he completed his Bachelor’s studies at Vidyamandira. He then moved to IIT Bombay for his Master’s degree, where he had the privilege of working with Professor Debabrata Maiti on C–H-activation-initiated skeleton editing. After completing his Master’s, he went to Germany and worked with Professor Benjamin List at the Max Planck Institute in Mülheim in the field of asymmetric catalysis.
Returning to India, he carried out photochemistry research in Professor Debashis Adhikari’s lab at IISER Mohali, and later joined Professor Indranil Chatterjee’s group at IITRPR as a JRF Project Fellow working on photoredox catalysis. Sourav has now joined the Marek Group for his PhD program, where he is studying novel ring-opening reactions of highly substituted cyclopropanes.
